Welcome

Thank you for showing an interest in working at St Paul’s Way Trust School (SPWT) a University School in the Heart of East London. We hope that this website will give you an insight into life at our school.

The school has exceptional links with businesses and high profile Universities such as: Queen Mary University of London, King’s College London, Warwick University and University of East London. At SPWT our success has been brought about by our partnership model that we have adopted. We succeed because we recognise that the relationship between home and school is a vitally important one for each child. The success of our partnership model has brought rewards. We were graded outstanding in all aspects of Ofsted in 2013. Ofsted commented that “the headteacher, governors, managers and senior and middle leaders have been successful in their relentless pursuit of scholarship and excellence. They are not complacent and continue to seek improvements.” View our outstanding Ofsted

In September 2014 we welcomed 60 Reception children for the first time; they are now our first Year 1 classes.  We are looking for a Headteacher who can lead these children and those that follow to outstanding success. It is an exciting time to join our Foundation school as our primary phase grows year by year and we will be moving into a brand new building in 2016.

This page is dedicated to our Headteacher – Primary Phase opportunity, but to learn more about the SPWT please click below.

Progress your career within leadership

By joining us as the Headteacher for the Primary Phase, it will give you a unique opportunity to be a part of building the future for families within our community, whilst progressing your career in leadership, within a supportive and innovative environment. We are proud of our model of school leadership; it is a model that looks first at the needs of the child and the community that we serve. In the last three years, two SPWT Deputy Headteachers have been promoted to become Headteachers of large secondary schools, in Tower Hamlets and Camden.

We welcome applications from existing Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers, who are looking for a highly rewarding new challenge.

Professional Learning is at the heart of our School. We offer an extensive professional development programme for both teaching and support staff at all levels. Every staff member creates their own Personalised Professional Development Plan. Learning is an ongoing process for students and staff and as such, research sits at the heart of our improvement strategy. Our students and staff are involved in research and development through a variety of projects and initiatives.

Since September 2014 we have been designated as a Teaching School as part of the London City Alliance Teaching School.

About our Foundation School

SPWT is divided into three ‘schools’, the Foundation School (Ages 4 -13), Trust School (Ages 13-19) and our School of Education. The transition at age 13 (beginning of Year 9) to the Trust School is designed to overcome the integration issues that we anticipate for the 60 students automatically transferring to the main school building in Year 7 by 2020 and for the 180 students that will be new entrants to the school. There are also a number of pedagogical factors that support transition ‘across schools’ at this point.

In September 2014 we welcomed 60 Reception children for the first time into our Foundation School; they are now our first Year 1 classes.

Our pupils benefit from having their lessons taught in both the Foundation School and the Trust School building and have access to plethora of teaching skills and experience across the curriculum. Our breakfast and after-school clubs are fully subscribed and pupils will start swimming lessons in the summer term.

School development - an exciting new building

In partnership with the London Borough of Town Hamlets and Poplar Harca, brand new accomodation is being built for the Foundation School. The project is making excellent progress and we will be moving into the new East Wing accomodation in August 2016. Upon completion, children will join SPWT from nursery age and benefit from new facilities such as a multi-use games area and sports hall.

An enriched curriculum

As London’s only Faraday School, SPWT will put science and investigation at the heart of the primary curriculum. As part of the Through School we have access to outstanding subject specialists, leaders and resources.

From the age of 4, all of our pupils are encouraged to develop a life long love of learning through our creative Early Years and Primacy curriculum. Every child benefits from this stimulating and innovative curriculum that is designed to develop the six key skills essential to becoming a ‘St Paul’s Way Graduate’.

The graduate skills are:

  • Communication – Our children experience a rich language environment to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves.
  • Investigation – Our Children have opportunities to explore, investigate, question and find out about people, places, technology and the world around them.
  • Participation – Our children form positive relationships, have respect for others and the skills to be part of groups.
  • Networking – Our children have opportunities to become involved in activities within the local community, to visit places of interest and to develop the skill they need for life through real, ‘hands-on’ experiences.
  • Scholarship – Our children are motivated, they have their own ideas and they enjoy achieving what they set out to do.
  • Vision – Our children are willing to ‘have a go’, they enjoy meeting challenges and they have lots of ideas.
