The Vegner Group of companies are a property service group established in 1991. With over 30 years' experience, the business specialises in the management of blocks of flats and offers other related services such as insurance broking, lettings management, surveying, company secretarial and the provision of concierge staff. The group has revenues of approximately £31m, and has over 550 employees, 75 of which are based at clients' buildings. We also administer the employment (payroll and HR support) for a further 150-200 staff employed directly by our clients.
Role Purpose
Pay employees and compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation; completing reports; maintaining records.
Primary Responsibilities
- Accurately processing of the payrolls of currently eight companies within Vegner Group containing over 550 employees using Sage 50 Payroll
- Monthly posting of payroll journals into Sage 200
- Monthly processing of external client payrolls containing over 150 concierge staff that are managed by Vegner Group companies.
- Ensuring accurate calculation of payments and deductions of PAYE, TAX, NIC, attachment of earnings, SMP, SSP as well as Co. sickness and holiday pay policies, staff loans, overtime, etc.
- Calculating the payments of P11D's and PSA's and submitting it to HMRC.
- Management of the auto enrolment pension processes and uploading of the
contributions for Vegner Group and the External Concierge sites.
- Payments to Scottish Widows, The People's Pension, NEST & NOW: Pensions and managing the opt-out and opt-ins within the Group.
- Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation in Sage 200 of the pension, net wages, PAYE and NIC control accounts.
- Monthly P&L Reconciliation in Sage 200 of the payroll journals
- Preparation of the monthly and quarterly salary recharge invoice spreadsheet for site staff and for finance to raise the invoices
- Supporting the management accounts monthly reporting with the FTE headcount and ad hoc journals for period end accounts
- Managing BACS transfers for monthly salary payments, monthly HMRC payments and monthly Pensions payments and other ad hoc third- party payments (AOE, CMS, etc.)
- Liaising with HR department on an ongoing basis, supporting the on boarding process of new employees and the management of holiday and sick leave.
- Support the strategic acquisition policy with preparations and timely integration of the newly acquired entities' payroll systems, people, and pension arrangements.
- Management of the external concierge client payrolls with the support of one direct report.
- Mentoring, coaching and appraisal of the one direct report.
- Assist with the annual staff cost budgets
- Assist with the annual audit process

- Management of the company's eye care and childcare vouchers schemes.
- Processing of staff Season Ticket Loan applications and subsequent payroll deductions.
- Processing the Enjoy Benefit deductions.
- Processing Octopus Electric Vehicle deductions
Person Profile / Skill Set
- Payroll qualifications required with a minimum of five years of payroll experience.
- Good understanding of all statutory requirements including pension reforms
- Team management skills
- Experience of accounting
- Excellent Microsoft skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Experience of Sage 50 Payroll essential
- Experience of Sage 200 Accounts would be useful
