All candidates will be asked to provide originals of documentation proving their right to work in the UK at assessment centre stage. The Company will be unable to offer employment if the candidate has been unable to provide the appropriate supporting original documentation. The Company has a duty to check that all new employees are entitled to work in the UK and to do the type of work offered. Any job offer will therefore be conditional on the individual holding the right to work in the UK.

  • What are the typical working hours?

The standard working hours are 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 hours a day Monday to Friday. Start and finish times will vary between location and departments.

  • What is the selection process to obtain an apprenticeship at Ford?

    Application Form

By following the link above, you will be taken to an application form, this allows you to tell us more about who you are, and your achieved or predicted grades.  We do need to ensure you meet the entry requirements for Ford, and for our learning providers.

    Video Interview Stage

Once we are satisfied you meet our entry requirements, you will progress into the video interview stage.

    Advanced Apprentices

You will be given the opportunity to have a live video interview with one of our team.

    Degree Apprentices

You will be sent a link to answer some preloaded questions, and your answers will be recorded for us to review.

    Online Testing

Should you be successful following the video interview stage, you will progress to the ‘Online Testing’ stage. We use SHL, as a testing platform. You will be sent a link to complete the tests, and guidance will be provided.

    Assessment Centres

The final stage is an assessment centre, these are now held virtually via Google HangOuts.   Ford feels this offers more flexibility for you as a candidate and saves you travelling to our sites. We provide full guidance on how to prepare, and of course support and encourage you throughout this stage to perform at your best.

  • If an apprentice applicant is successful, and completes the four year apprenticeship, can they leave and use the degree elsewhere?

This would not be something we would want, as a business we invest hugely in training and education to ensure our apprentices roll off their scheme ready to walk into a key role in our business. The practical experience gained is on the job, and provides our apprentices with essential skills to contribute to the future of our business with a job offered at the end of the apprenticeship in most cases.

However, each of our apprenticeships are finalised with a nationally recognised qualification, that will be recognised outside of Ford.

  • Is there any support provided if the student has to move?

All of our apprenticeships offer a competitive salary, and as part of the on-boarding process, we offer guidance on our locations. We are also very clear in the application process which of our sites the apprentices will be based, and where their training provider is based. We do not fund any accommodation or relocation costs.

  • How are the apprentices supported, once they join Ford?

We are very aware of the support required from some students, and we can assure them that they will have a support network around them. We have a team of Apprenticeship Leaders and their Training Provider Tutors that will be keeping regular touch points in place to ensure they are meeting all the requirements of the apprenticeship.

  • What progression is possible after the apprenticeship?

All our apprenticeships come with a permanent offer of employment upon successful completion. We advocate a growth mindset and provide many and varied development opportunities for all our employees.

We believe our employees are best placed to drive their own careers and for those who are looking to progress through the company, there are certainly channels for that.
