Life at Ford

Ford's Purpose

Diverse backgrounds, opinions and life experiences are just some of the distinctions we all bring to the workplace. Ford first established an equal opportunities policy more than 30 years ago. Today, we continue working to improve diversity in the company and the community. We understand that this diversity gives us different perspectives, fresh ideas and makes our company stronger.

Supporting Ford Colleagues with Disabilities

Ford are committed to creating a culture of belonging where everyone feels valued and welcome.

Two of our employees – Darren Coan and Erkan Uysal – are helping to create a better working environment for people with disabilities, and have been recognised with a 2021 Ford Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Ford

Ford invites us to bring our whole selves – all of our passion, inspiration, integrity and uniqueness – into the office each day.

A diverse workforce

Diversity breeds innovation. Our customers are global, and our diversity helps us to understand them and develop the products they want. Across Europe, we have Employee Resource Groups representing groups including women, BAME and LGBTQ+ employees, parents, carers and employees with disabilities.

Respectful and inclusive

Inclusion is more than just bringing diverse groups of people together. It’s also about finding ways to amplify the voices of everyone in the room. We promote a culture of respect and inclusivity, where diverse teams of skilled and motivated people work together without barriers.

Job sharing match making tool supports Ford employees

Childcare demands, caring for older relatives, or pursuing interests outside of work can make job sharing an attractive proposition – however, finding the perfect person to job share with can be challenging.

Ford has developed a web-based matchmaking tool to make finding the right person to job share with easier than ever before. Like a dating app, employees can create a profile, search for suitable colleagues that align with their needs, and then contact potential partners, offering a more flexible approach to working.

Engineers building simulations that enable them to trial how useful customers find new technologies and designers using animations to create virtual prototypes are just some of the ways Ford is applying lessons learned from gaming to its own processes.
