Whitmore High School is a mixed comprehensive school with an excellent record of achievement. Students achieve the highest standards of work and behaviour in a positive, friendly but disciplined atmosphere.

In 2015, we were delighted that Ofsted again judged the school to be Outstanding in all areas, including the Sixth Form. The inspection team commented on the “outstanding progress” and “exemplary behaviour” demonstrated by our students, our “commitment to making sure that all students achieve their best” and the “exceptional” support for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development which our students receive.

Outstanding progress is made by students of all abilities at all key stages, as recognised by Ofsted in 2015. In English, Mathematics and Science, progress is regularly in the top 10% nationally for all three subjects. We are proud to be in the top 100 non-selective state-funded schools in England based on the key stage 2 to key stage 4 value added measure. Click here

In 2016 73% of students achieved A*-C grades in both English and Maths alongside a range of widely respected GCSE courses.

Whitmore’s Sixth Form is extremely popular and highly successful, with students achieving very high standards. In 2016 65% of all grades were A*-B and 89% were A*-C. The majority of our sixth form go to university.

Our curriculum lies at the heart of all we do

At Whitmore High we offer you the opportunity to deliver a curriculum that develops the whole child and we will support you to implement and develop curriculum changes positively and effectively. Outstanding teaching underpins the breadth and balance of every child’s learning. Every student has the opportunity to enrich their core of academic subjects with two languages, humanities, creative and practical subjects and physical education. Whitmore students perform to the highest standards in the arts and sport - achievements which are complemented by the broad range of interpersonal and social skills which they develop.

We care for our students as individuals and support them to be happy, confident and successful young people. We stretch and challenge them to achieve their very best in all aspects of school life, and we provide a wide range of pastoral and extra-curricular opportunities to enrich their personal development. We are delighted to have been designated a High Performing Specialist School. Our Science College status has allowed us to strengthen our provision and facilities in Science, Mathematics and ICT, while maintaining all-round excellence across the whole curriculum.

We are a Teaching School where we act as a hub of training and support for new teachers.

A collaborative approach of sharing best practice is key to our CPD sessions that include weekly teaching and learning sharing of good practice at morning briefing, a teaching and learning group who meet half termly, inset days and departmental meetings.
Our passionate SLT and subject and pastoral managers offer excellent leadership across the school and our staff benefit from clear polices in place to ensure teaching and learning is manageable and effective.

We offer excellent opportunities for internal promotions as well as across our local network of schools.
