Progress your career with us

Professional Learning is at the heart of our school. We offer an extensive professional development programme for both teaching and support staff at all levels. Every staff member creates their own Personalised Professional Development Plan.

Learning is an ongoing process for students and staff and as such, research sits at the heart of our improvement strategy. Our students and staff are involved in research and development through a variety of projects and initiatives.

We have been designated as a Teaching School since September 2014 as part of the London City Alliance Teaching School.

About our school

St Paul's Way Trust School is a heavily over-subscribed, 4–18 ‘through-school’ in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which celebrates the achievements and potential of every student. The School became a Foundation Trust School in March 2010.

In our primary school, we have a one form entry in Reception and a two form entry in Year 1; this will now grow each year as a two form entry school. We have a full secondary school and an expanding VI form.

This year we were delighted by the announcement that we are one of the 15 Most Improved Schools in England. In March 2013, Ofsted described the school as "Outstanding" in every category, including the VI Form. The school was commended for its "relentless pursuit of scholarship and excellence".

We expect each of our graduates to be fully prepared for the opportunities and demands of the adult world and as a staff team we are integral to making this a reality. During each child's school career, we place strong emphasis on six key areas: Communication, Investigation, Networking, Participation, Scholarship and Vision. It is because students learn to excel in these areas that they gain the confidence to become successful global citizens.

The trust

Our trust status is very important because it has enabled us to establish long-term relationships with external partners and to involve them in the school’s governance and leadership. Our trustees include four universities: Queen Mary University of London, King’s College London, the University of Warwick and the University of East London.

These trustees together with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Institute of Education, Poplar Harca and XL Catlin are determined to ensure that we remain an excellent place of learning. In addition we have two patrons who are also key to our success: Professor John Wass and Professor Brian Cox OBE.

An award winning building with outstanding facilities

We moved into an award winning new building with outstanding facilities in January 2011. Our flagship new building’s innovative design has received a number of awards and nominations. We are proud that it’s not only our staff team and students that enjoy and benefit from our facilities, but also the local community. Our facilities that are open to our community include a public library, a theatre and a large public sports provision. The area surrounding the school has recently undergone major improvement thanks to the work done by the St Paul’s Way Transformation Project, of which the school is a member of.

Our classrooms are designed to provide maximum educational versatility - each space can be easily transformed into larger or smaller open plan areas. With the creation of such highly adaptable teaching and learning spaces, this means our teachers are able to tailor the spaces they work within to evolving educational principles.

The St Paul's Way Trust Research Centre is a major expansion of Science teaching facilities at St Paul's Way Trust School. The centre provides students with three new research laboratories, a classroom teaching space, and other flexible multi-use spaces, suitable for the development of high level research work by VI Form students. The space is suitable for conducting undergraduate style tasks and projects, which will give students an insight into the world of scientific research. As well as serving as rich learning experiences in their own right, these research experiences will help fulfil our aim to drive up the number of students taking STEM based degrees.

We are currently expanding further and building a new primary school to be ready for the 2018/19 term, along the VI form which is also being expanded.

An innovative and unique learning experience

We are committed to ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to all, and allows students to develop and make progress according to their needs and abilities.

Our undergraduate curriculum is the result of very close work with two of our Trustees: Queen Mary, University of London and King’s College, London. It is precisely because of our unique relationship with these Higher Education institutions, alongside Warwick University and the University of East London, that we are able to provide this exciting, relevant and robust learning experience.

At St Paul’s Way Trust School, we are committed to ensuring that all children experience as wide a range of literary, scientific, artistic, and sporting influences as possible. Students at our school should leave with a broad body of knowledge and experience, so that they can make discerning judgements with confidence.

We are the only Faraday Science School in London, and we can offer particular support for science students.
