Novus Cambria have been awarded the contract to deliver Education Provision to HMP Berwyn in Wrexham and they have chosen Randstad Education as their recruitment partner.

Novus has a strong record of working with prisons and Coleg Cambria is an excellent local education provider in Wrexham. It is an ideal partnership and Novus Cambria are keen to support the vision of the Prison.

HMP Berwyn will offer exceptional learning & skill provision with a focus on rehabilitation to the men it houses. The curriculum offer will support this process and Novus Cambria are seeking exceptional staff to help deliver this agenda across a wide range of areas.

As well as traditional education or vocational skills training, Novus Cambria will make sure there are opportunities to train in horticulture, libraries, the recycling unit, the wellbeing centre, the industrial workshops, kitchen and gyms.

Novus Cambria will offer the provision of Welsh language, including second language Welsh classes for people who do not currently speak the language.

Novus Cambria is a joint venture between Novus, which is the UK’s largest provider of education, training and employability programmes to offenders, and Coleg Cambria, one of the UK’s biggest colleges.

About HMP Berwyn

The governor of HMP Berwyn, a £212m super prison and says his vision is to create the best environment for the 2,106 inmates to change their lives and be rehabilitated. It is set to open in February 2017.

Russ Trent, Governor of Berwyn, said: “Our aim at Berwyn is to create a rehabilitative culture so we can return the men to their communities as more productive members of their families and society.

“At the heart a rehabilitative culture is a need to provide education and skills to give the best chance of employment on release.
