Accounts Assistant - Croydon

Here at HML we are looking to give someone an opportunity to begin their career within the Finance sector.

We are looking for someone who has recently graducated with a relevant degree or someone currently studying Finance Certifications.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Client Accounting Manager, the role will be to assist the client accounting team with administrative tasks to ensure that all deadlines are met and adequate accounting records kept. Duties include but are not restricted to:





MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



1 PRODUCTION AND PRINTING OF PROPERTY YEAR END AUDIT PACKS

Arranging for preparation, collation and provision of year end paperwork to the independent accountants within three months of each development's the respective year end.



1 AUDIT QUERIES

To work together with the Administration team to ensure all accounts queries directed to our group inbox are answered effectively and in a timely manner



1 DISTRIBUTION OF YEAR END SERVICE CHARGE ACCOUNTS

Monitoring and chasing, to ensure that all accounts are issued, along with any covering letters and associated paperwork as requested by the Client Accounting Manager/Client Accountant/Property Manager. The timescales are particularly important as all service charge accounts must be issued within 6 months of the financial year end otherwise a section 20b notice must be served.



1 ISSUING OF SECTION 20B NOTICES

In the event that a set of service charge accounts will not be ready to distribute within the 6 month deadline, a section 20b notice must be issued along with a draft expenditure to be provided by the Client Accounting Manager/Client Accountant.



1 STATUTORY ACCOUNTS

Assisting to monitor statutory accounting deadlines to ensure that all statutory accounts are filed within nine months of their respective year end.



1 BANK RECONCILIATIONS

There are approximately 4,000 bank accounts held by HML in trust for our clients. The successful candidate will be assisting the client accounting team with bank reconciliations on a monthly basis, ensuring completeness within 4 weeks of the statement in line with current legislation. Any discrepancies are to be identified and flagged immediately with the Client Accounting Manager or Client Accountant



1 ADDITIONAL ADHOC ACCOUNTING/ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS

Assisting with any additional adhoc accounting or administrative task if stipulated by the Client Accounting Manager or Client Accountant.

Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will be provided with adequate training to enable them to complete any necessary tasks and therefore experience in the property management industry would be a bonus but is not essential.
