The Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ford Prototype Build & Test team at their Dunton Campus in Basildon, Essex. We are looking for a number of Vehicle Electricians and Mechanics to join our existing teams as we accelerate our transition to Electrified and Autonomous vehicles. 

Responsibilities

Typical day to day duties will involve :

  • Building / testing of prototype vehicles and advanced propulsion systems

  • The removal, testing, reworking and refitting of vehicle / powertrain components and subsystems

  • The manufacturing and setting up of test rigs, fixtures etc. to engineers specifications and instructions

  • The operation and inspection of test facilities and rigs

Whilst these positions are not part-time, we welcome applications from people who are, or would like to, work part-time in the event that a job share partner is available.

To excel in the role, you will need: 

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Applicants must have completed an industry recognised Automotive apprenticeship (Mechanical and / or Electrical & normally 4 years in duration)

  • Applicants must also have completed industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds/ BTEC / NVQ /HNC etc)

  • Applicants must also have completed a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience 

  • The ability to read engineering drawings and work to engineering instructions

  • A strong team player with good communication and IT skills

  • Applicants must have a full UK driving licence

Experience required

  • Experience in Vehicle & Engine fitting and testing. 

  • Experience in working with Advanced Electrified Propulsion Systems such as Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles (MHEV), Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). 

  • Experience of using instrumentation and data logging equipment 

  • Experience in maintaining compliance for ISO 9001/ 14001 systems
